Revolutionary Micro-Grant recipient

from Photographers Without Borders

I was honored to be a Revolutionary Micro-Grant recipient from Photographers Without Borders in 2023, supporting my project on Indigenous parenting and motherhood. Through storytelling and photography, I aim to share the deep connections, resilience, and traditions that shape Indigenous mothering. This project is a tribute to the strength of our ancestors and the wisdom we pass on to future generations.

Decolonizing my life

Personal essay

For Generation and Generations within indigenous people, Indigenous have been oppressed and targeted to “take the indian out of the child” being forced to Residential school, Indian day schools, the 60’s scoop, foster system, Missing and Murdered Women and Girls.

The feelings of loss, grief, trauma, were carried to our elders, on to our grandparents,

our parents, and the generation now. Looking back at the traces of our ancestors, give us a timeline of what has been done to our family, and our ancestors. Which traces back to what we call Intergenerational trauma, finding a new path of healing and reclaiming who we are.
